Questions –
  1. When did realize that you wanted to be an author?

When I was about 4 years old I understood that if you loved stories you could make up your own. At this point, I altered my goal to be a Princess to making a career as a Writer.

  1. How long does it take for you to write one of your books?

I’m a fulltime writer but it depends on how long I can keep my momentum going for each book. Some days I’m the world’s best procrastinator and I can’t even begin to count the number of trivial web links I’ve followed rather than getting on with writing. But approximately three months is the average.

  1. How do you balance your work schedule when you’re busy writing?

My work is my writing. Business writing provides a good chunk of my income and I find that alternating between professional and creative writing keeps me balanced.

  1. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I’m a very fast typist but I noticed about a year ago that I only use two fingers and my thumb on each hand to type. I discovered this one day when I looked down at my keyboard and saw that I was holding a pen in each hand as I typed. It looks very odd but it gets the job done.

  1. How do you come up with ideas for your books?

Ideas aren’t the problem – the problem is finding time to turn them all into books. Going for walks or packing the dishwasher seem to provide no end of inspiration!

  1. When did you write your first book?

I wrote a book about fostering greyhounds about five years ago – this was my first published book.

  1. What are your hobbies when you’re not writing?

Travel! I need to do more of it. I’ve been writing far too much lately. (Looks wistfully out the window).

  1. What does your family and close friends think of your writing?

They think I’m mad, but that’s ok. It’s all part of me cultivating my mysterious writer image.

  1. What was one of the most interesting things that you learned about yourself when you published your first book?

That I hate promoting myself! I’m a writer, not a marketer. Which is why I make use of services such as this. I have an interview coming up on US television shortly and I am NOT looking forward to the experience.

  1. How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?

About 15 at present, but some of these are very small (10,000 words). My latest book is always my favorite.

  1. What do you think makes a good story?

I’m all about the plot twists. I love a good plot twist – I figure that if I’m bored with my book then the reader will be too. Enter the plot twist….

  1. Where do you like to kick back and write your books?

I’m not one of these writers who can balance myself on a chair (for one thing, I’m incredibly clumsy) and happily write. I have my office set up at home and I work best there, tucked away from the world like the mad hermit I seem to have become.
