Questions –

1. When did realize that you wanted to be an author?
I have loved reading for as long as I can remember, and one day I just thought to myself.. I can do that. I started writing poetry when I was a teenager, and the rest is history.

2. How long does it take for you to write one of your books?

I’m a stay at home mom, and my youngest will be starting school this year. That being said most of my writing happens between ten PM and three AM. Three months is usually a fair amount of time depending on the length of the story, and how much research goes into it, as well as if the kids want to cooperate 😉

3. How do you balance your work schedule when you’re busy writing?

I try my hardest to spend as much time with my kids during the day, and focus on writing at night. Although there are times when ideas come to me in the middle of the day, and I’m frantically writing them down on random notebooks. I’m enough to stay at home with my kids, but this year my youngest will be off to school, and I hope to have more time for writing.

4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

My chapters are shorter than most. Ever since I can remember I’ve read before falling asleep. I would always tell myself one more chapter, and I’d usually fall asleep before finishing, so I decided to make mine shorter.

5. How do you come up with ideas for your books?

I always joke that my mind is full of stories. It goes back to when I was a child and playing barbies. Some of my friends who have read my books have since contacted me saying they remember a certain name or scenario. It’s funny the things that stay with you.

6. When did you write your first book?

I was eighteen when I wrote my first book. It was rough, and honestly it was terrible, but I re wrote it again when I was in my mid twenties, and finally published it. I fell in love with writing again. That book, turned into my first series of books.

7. What are your hobbies when you’re not writing?

Singing. I’m probably terrible, but I do enjoy it. And of course reading. Getting lost in a story is one of the most relaxing things for me.

8. What does your family and close friends think of your writing?

My Grandma is probably my biggest fan. She buys every book the instant that it’s out in both eBook and paperback form and tells everyone she knows. My sister is my book jacket designer, but I don’t think she’s actually read any of my books. My friends are great, very supportive.

9. What was one of the most interesting things that you learned about yourself when you published your first book?

That I had more inside of me than I thought. I’ve always been shy, and my first book contained a few steamy scenes that made me nervous to publish, but the feedback I received made me realize that I really did have a voice that people wanted to hear, and it built my confidence up in a way that I don’t think anything else could have.

10. How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?

I have seven books under my belt now, and my favorite is “Secrets, Love, and Lies” The lead, Layla is just a bad ass and I absolutely loved writing her. She has an unexpected love interest too which I think surprised a lot of people.

11. What do you think makes a good story?

Connection. If your characters don’t feel connected to each other the whole story just seems off.

12. Where do you like to kick back and write your books?

A little porch right on the beach. Give me a small table, my laptop, and a few fruity drinks, and I think I could definitely become inspired.
