About Kiyoshi –

Kiyoshi Terrell Fish was born in Youngstown, Ohio. He is one of 14 brothers and sisters and his parents have been married for almost 50 years. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2002 and holds an associate’s degree from Kent State University, a Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and a Master’s in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. He still lives in Phoenix, with his wife, and two daughters.

Kiyoshi currently works as a social worker with the Department of Child Safety and owns two businesses; Sports Unlimited Services, LLC, which helps student-athletes obtain college scholarships and a Sports Agency called Unlimited Sports and Entertainment, in which he acts as a scout and agent for professional athletes.

Kiyoshi’s favorite quote is “as you travel the highway of life, face the future with confidence and appreciate everyone that comes across your path in life, because everybody is somebody that somehow plays a part in your purpose here on earth.” This quote has played a part in the book that Kiyoshi has written, called Highway of Life, which is a self-help title aimed at helping people find their purpose and guide them on life’s journey.

When he has time to relax, Kiyoshi likes spending plenty of time with his family. He also has an eclectic range of interests, from planting flowers and playing chess, to watching sports and playing video games.

He also believes in charity and giving something back to individuals and communities who are less fortunate and his company helped to sponsor the “Zuris Circle Feed the Community Event” which does exactly that.

In the future, Kiyoshi’s hopes are to write more books and watch his children grow into responsible young women. He also dreams of traveling around the United States in an RV when he retires and plans to become a full-time Agent in all sports.

Questions –

1. When did realize that you wanted to be an author

I realized that I wanted to be an author in my first year of college. I always enjoyed writing and reading self-help books, and so I planted the seed in my mind that I will one day and somehow become an author, but did not know when.  In 2010, that is when I took the initiative and decided that I wanted to make my dream a reality, and started this book, “the highway of life”.

 2. How long does it take for you to write one of your books?

The first one took me about 5 years. I was distracted by other things in my life, and put it off.  The book and thoughts were there, just placing those thoughts into action was the hard part. I eventually got it done, thanks to my support team.

 3. How do you balance your work schedule when you’re busy writing?

Writing for me is a way to escape from the everyday pressures of life. I always have thoughts going on in my mind about current events, my current issues and problems, and writing is a way for me to release whatever is on my mind.  I enjoy writing, so  work is work, but writing is my passion.

 4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I write the best at night.  After a long day’s work, and when I think I’m tired, sometimes, I’m not. While watching Sportscenter or something on TV, I take notes on things that are on my mind, and write about them.

 5. How do you come up with ideas for your books?

I meditate a lot, and I am a deep thinker. I use my experiences from my daily walk of life and apply that to my writing. I like meeting people on a daily basis, and enjoy diversity. I think my ideas and thoughts come from my interactions with people on a daily basis.

 6. When did you write your first book?

The first one took me about 5 years. I was distracted by other things in my life, and put it off.  The book and thoughts were there, just placing those thoughts into action was the hard part. I eventually got it done, thanks to my support team.

 7. What are your hobbies when you’re not writing?

I love sports, I’m a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan.  I enjoy hiking, exercising, and just relaxing. I love playing with my daughters and all their adventures. I enjoy time with my wife.  I like to do anything that’s relaxing.

8. What does your family and close friends think of your writing?

I would hope they enjoy it. I’m a deep thinker, and I enjoy deep conversations about life and issues, and it reflects in my writing.

9. What was one of the most interesting things that you learned about yourself when you published your first book?

I work hard to be good at my craft. I learned that I have a hard work ethic, and I love learning. The writing industry is a lot of work, but I’m learning about how to market yourself, and what makes a good book.

10. How many books have you written?

Which one is your favorite?- This is my first book. I am currently working on another book, called, “Let’s Chance it”.

11. What do you think makes a good story?

I think what makes a good story is showing people “opportunity”. I think a story is good when you get to learn from the story you are reading. If you pick up a book and don’t take a message with you from reading the book, then the book may not be what  you expected. A good story needs a strong message behind it.

 12. Where do you like to kick back and write your books?

I am a night owl. I usually kick back on the couch in front of the television, and allow my mind to roam. I love being awake at night when everyone may be asleep. It’s so relaxing to hear nothing but peace and quiet.
