Questions –

1. When did realize that you wanted to be an author?
I think I was around the age of seven when I first thought about writing. I wrote a story about a rabbit and a pig. My mom thought I’d copied it from a book, since then the idea of becoming an author has always been a dream, until recently.

2. How long does it take for you to write one of your books?
Between a year and six months, on average. If I’m really into a particular story or character it can be shorter than six months.

3. How do you balance your work schedule when you’re busy writing?
Fortunately for me, I’m able to write fulltime, but I still balance a home life; which sometimes can be a little hectic, especially if I can’t pull myself away from a certain character.

4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I tend to plan. And man, I mean, PLAN. The once free wall in my office is now covered in post-it notes, spools of cotton thread connecting each character to the plot. I’m not going to lie, it looks like I know where the bodies are buried. Haha.

5. How do you come up with ideas for your books?
This is going to sound really cheesy, but I dream about most of them before they become written words. Other times idea and plots will just pop into my head while in the moment. Some are cannon fodder, but some are gold.

6. When did you write your first book?
I was 19 — so, 2013? I never published it.

7. What are your hobbies when you’re not writing?
I love my dogs and I cosplay when I get the time with friends.

8. What do your family and close friends think of your writing?
My family is supportive and my friends are slightly more supportive than my family.

9. What was one of the most interesting things that you learned about yourself when you published your first book?
That I’m not a bad writer. I doubted myself so much in the beginning, but I never really should’ve wasted the energy.

10. How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?
I’ve written a few books, but by far my favorite is The Wichita Falls Mystery. Graham is a sweetheart.

11. What do you think makes a good story?
People, not characters. And realism, real realism.

12. Where do you like to kick back and write your books?
In my office or with my dogs on the couch with some sweet music and a cup of joe.
