It’s Not as Bad as it Sounds (my life with MS & Fibro)

Life with invisible disabilities; ways I have found to live well(ish)

It's Not as Bad as it Sounds (my life with MS & Fibro)

Full Description

Yvonne Decelis wrote this collection of essays over a time period of approximately three years while she was obtaining her degree in Gerontology at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. In It’s Not as Bad as it Sounds; Mrs. Decelis writes about living day-to-day with the “invisible Disabilities” she has (Multiple Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia).

Topics covered here run the gamut. Yvonne goes over topics such as “healthful living”, Social Security Disability benefits (SSDI), relationships and physical symptoms (such as day-to-day symptoms and “Exacerbations” cause by the MS and pain from the Fibro), things she uses for treatment, and ways she communicates with the rest of the world via social networks to try to help others with similar conditions.

It is also hoped that this book will assist people seeking information on how to (and how not to) interact with others who have “invisible illnesses” like MS, Fibro, Lupus, Epilepsy, Post-Traumatic Stress Injury, etc. Since this book was strongly inspired by a support group that Mrs. Decelis became a part of soon after her diagnosis in December, 1994, her goal is to help others since so many of her social-network contacts confide in her about problems they encounter with friends and/or family members.
