In my tutorial I provide more than a hundred examples of SQL queries for MySQL, Oracle and MS Access databases.

Learn SQL By Examples

Full Description

This book is for beginners and intermediates.
SQL stands for Structured Query Language. SQL is designed for managing data held in a relational database management system (RDBMS). The relational database is based on the relational model. In the relational database, each record in one table is linked to corresponding record(s) in the other table(s). The records´ ids are used to link related records
SQL is a standard way to manipulate a relational database data and any programmer of any computer language should know SQL. Even though it is standard, there are slightly different SQL “dialects” for different databases. In this book, I provide SQL query examples that I tested on MySQL, Oracle and MS Access.
A database is an application that stores data in organized data sets and manages data storage, retrieval and modification. In the relational database, data is stored in tables. Each table holds many records. Each record contains many fields and is identified with an ID that is the primary key of the record. In our tutorial, we will use a computer school database. The school database includes the following tables: teachers, cars, students, schedule, student_course, course. You will learn how to pull different data from the school database to answer such questions as “What courses each teacher teaches?”, “What courses each student takes?”, “When each course starts?” and many more.
I have a web page (http://www.configure-all.com) connected to the school database. You can use this web page to enter SQL query and see the output.
